Hey!
I’m planning a trip to mFrance (my 3rd one) and I’d like to know if anyone has a good idea of where I can spend a few days (3 or 4) out of the beaten path. I’ve been to Paris the rivera and the Loire Valley. I know there are a lot of areas of interest outside of these, so I’d like to have your feedback about then. Thanks!
Gregory
Oh Boy!
We’ll need some more info to help you out! When are you going? What do you prefer? History, Nature, People watching? Archtecture, Food and Wine?
There is so much to see in France, it’s really hard to give you a sample answer.
Give us some more details and we’ll be glad to help.

Hi There,
i’m going to travel France in 31th July, and i’m interesting in funny places and historical ones too, can you help guiding me.
my name is : Ezzat
If you’re looking for a "funny" place, try Parc Asterix. You’ll love it. They have a web site you can check.
Have fun.
Hi,
If you like a nice area to visit, I think Alsace can be the right place. If you go over there during winter time care about the cold climate. But the best period to visit is september or october and why not participate to the haevest work and be remunirated.
I love your country.
What kind of "funny places" are you looking for?
During the month of august I would try and stay away from the Riviera, as I’m afraid it’s going to be quite busy this year with tourists from all over Europe. I’d go to Brittany, Maybe Aquitaine. As for historical places, well France is really full of them! It’s really hard *not* to find a place that is historical when visiting France…

I too am planning a trip to france in october of 2004. I will go to lisieux for a few days and then travel to Paris staying in the Montmartre area. My trip will be a vacation and a pilgrimage to some of the great shrines in France, I would like to visit Vezelay but im confused, i want to go to Nevers and if i catch a train to Avallon from Paris i can see Vezelay. Is it difficult to drive from Vezelay to Nevers, i was thinking of renting a car to see the french countryside but im afraid as my command of french is not good.
Also what are some inexpensive ways to see the Loire Valley and places to visit, im really on a tight budget but id love to visit some palaces or castles and experience some french history.
If you like wine check out Bordeaux or Burgundy, the Loire Valley or Alsace. Or try the ancient cave drawings at Lascaux (near Montignac) and Grotte de Font de Gaume (near Les Eyzies.) Sarlat-la-Caneda is a good base for these.
Definately try the north Burgundy region. Beaune, Mersault, Gevrey Chambertain, etc. Its off the beaten path (sort of) and the wine and foods are spectacular. TGV to Lyon from Paris to start the adventure. Regards, Donerail.
If you’ve been to Paris and Loire Valley, maybe it is a good idea to go in the south, it is like another country…
I live in Montpellier, I know well south-east region beetwen Spain and Italy
