*I am going to spend my holiday in France / I need some information

Posted on November 21, 2003

Hi! My name is Zsolt.I live in Budapest, Hungary. I have been learning French for two month and I am getting more and more interested in French culture and music (esp.Noir Désir), too. I decided to spend at least a month in France next summer to improve my French. I’d appreciate to get some information about reasonably good and cheep yout hostels in Paris, Bordeaux, Marseille,Lille or other in other places. If you could suggest me interesting little towns to visit, I would be greatful. You can also drop me a line at pannonius@operamail.com
regards

You are right, just by visiting Paris you won’t experience the real France. You will only really grab the spirit of France by visiting the countryside. I also noticed that when I was traveling with a friend who is working for a company selling property in France. Now I would rather go to the countryside again than to Paris :-)
Anyway, I couldn’t recommend any particular village to you. Just drive around the countryside and stop where you like it. The villages also have small hotels or b&bs that are quite cheap and people are really friendly so I bet you will be able to improve your French pretty quickly.

Hello Zsolt. You can get budget travel information at ?http://hostels.france.com/

I found this by clicking on the HOSTELS link in the blue banner on the left side of this page. You can find hostels and prices in the above article by looking at number 2 (Accomodations) and finding the link to hostels. http://www.hostelbookers.com/hostels/france/

You might also consider the Logis de France chain of small family-owned hotels. There is a Logis in nearly every town in France. The prices vary so find one you can afford. Nearly all of the Logis have an excellent restaurant although the meals can cost more than the rooms. Check menus for prices before you go in. http://www.logis-de-france.fr/uk/

Small towns to visit: The easiest way to find really pretty and very French small towns is to look at the Plus Beaux Villes of France. These are all beautiful, small and friendly. We've visited many over the years and have never been disappointed. Here's the link. http://www.les-plus-beaux-villages-de-france.org/

There is a small British flag upper right side of page and that translates the page into English if you want. If you will tell us what part of France you want to visit, we will try to suggest specific villages.
