I am looking for a friend that I knew in France in 1980, her name was Florence Poisson and she married a man called Eric, I think!! She was about 25. I had 2 children at the time called Sally and Rachael and she stayed with us in Weymouth, England. The children are now grown and Sally has a baby, I would dearly love to get in touch with Florence. I am now divorced from my husband who was called Alan Chard, but I am married again to Andrew Salmon. We went to the wedding of Florence and Eric, they lived near Angers I think, I can’t quite remember. Florence had a friend called Sandra and they both came to stay with us. Please can someone out there help me? The town of Samur seems to ring a bell but I am not quite sure where Florence lived. I would be grateful if someone could help me.

I’m not in France but have a couple suggestions.

First, I tried the French white pages phone directory and found:
    Poisson, Florence, 8 r Nouvelle, 49400 SAUMUR, phone 02 41 51 79 09

I don’t know if that is her or not but you could phone and ask. If you want to search other cities, the web address is http://www.pagesjaunes.fr/pb.cgi

You could also do a Google search for her name. Since she’s married and may have changed her name, it creates a problem. However, if you find a few Poissons in the right area, they might know her married name. Since you seem to be in Britain, the phone charges shouldn’t be too bad. If, by chance, you are calling from the US, you might consider one of the 10 10 987 or 10 10 297 calling options.

    Good luck on your search.

Poisson, If you haven’t already done it, click on the blue and red France.com at the top of this page. When you get to the home page, look on the right side of your screen and click on "airfares." You can do a search and you will be given several choices of both airline and fares.

They often have very good rates. We got terrific rates on a trip to Nice this autumn.

Good luck. We’ll all be looking forward to hearing about your trip.

Thanks for replying. I have been looking up the prices of flights to France with Ryanair and they seem to be the cheapest, it works out at nearly £100 for 2 people, which is very good, so maybe soon we can go to see her. Thanks again. I will let you know what happens. WATCH THIS SPACE.

I have managed to speak to Florence in France, I am so grateful for you helping me and finding the number. It was so good to speak to her after almost 25 years, I cannot begin to thank you enough. She is now divorced so she had reverted back to her maiden name which was a stroke of luck. Thanks, thanks, thanks.

You’re certainly welcome. I’m glad it worked out for both of you.

Hopefully you can arrange to meet again and talk over old times.

    Enjoy.
