France is what they claim the United States is

Posted on September 29, 2003

i have known that france has held other countries in history as their own providences. I was very surprised to find this article. http://slate.msn.com/id/2089008/ Finding this article where france is still occupying territory in Africa to make profit for themselves mainly shows me how hypocritical France is. The united states is going into iraq for security issues, and france still occupies territories in africa for profit. Before seeing this i was debating if i was going to ever go to france. I want to see europe, my grandfather faught there to free the french and many of his friends were burried there. After seeing this article i can clearly see now france is purely in many situations for profit.

hat and shoe designer searching for artisan towns

Posted on September 25, 2003

Hi! I’m a hat and shoe designer who has been living in New York City for 7 years now. It’s been my deepest dream to move to France for the past 14 years. I grew up in Iceland and Japan mainly, and was born in Germany. I’m American, but I don’t feel American (if you know what I mean).

Here’s what I want to do. I am planning on living in France, starting this November for a trial period of 3 months. I really don’t want to live in Paris, for all the reasons that I can’t stand New York City anymore: pollution, overcrowding, high cost of living. I feel that I must, though, to build my own business. Do I really have to, though?

interested in meeting people from France

Posted on September 25, 2003

I am interested in meeting people who live in France. I would like to make friends via email with interested folks, and invite them to come and see me when they visit America. Several of my friends are thinking about doing this.

I live in Memphis, Tennessee, about 10 miles from Graceland. I don’t really know very much about France, but it seems like culture and manner are important to them. I want to learn more about the place, and possibly visit next year. I have a lot of questions about french culture, and what is important to french people in their lives.

thanks for any who will respond…

I am interested in moving to Paris

Posted on September 22, 2003

My girl and myself would like to relocate to Paris. I have a vast medical history and require expensive medications. What is healthcare and insurance in France like? Is healthcare a government issue or is it acquired mostly through employment? Any help is appreciated. Also, how is the economic climate in Paris? I currently live outside Washington, DC. Are living expenses similiar to those in the USA?

Napoleon?

Posted on September 21, 2003

Hello I just finished a book on Napoleon Bonaparte and i found him to be a truely great man. I was wondering what attitude French people have towards him. I have heard him coined "the first anti-christ" which I think is ridiculous and he has been accused of war mongering. These acusations to anyone educated about him are untrue. Is he a French national hero?

Places to go with a kid

Posted on September 21, 2003

I am going to Paris with my husband and my eight year old granddaughter on October 2 and we are staying by EuroDisney. We are going to EuroDisney. Is it a good idea to rent a car? We plan on taking the RER to Paris. What are the other places in Paris can I take my granddaughter? How is driving outside of Paris? Is it the same as in US? We were in Paris in May and we saw the driving in Paris and it was scary. I am a little nervous this time because we are on our own in this Paris trip.
