Located on the east coast of Martinique, in front of the ocean and the small “Saint Aubin” island, in the middle of a 20.000 square meters park “à la française”, Le Domaine Saint Aubin is a splendid colonial manor, turned into a *** boutique hotel, run as a guest-house : Napoleon the 3rd mahogany furniture, shady varangues surrounding lounges, restaurant and bedrooms, sunny terraces, a delicately colored swimming-pool.The owners, a charming couple whose family has been living in Martinique since 1715, will share with you their love of quiet walks through the tropical forest, rhum distilleries or old stories about this land of warm full serenity.

An authentic colonial manor

Overlooking a wide sunny bay where foam rolling waves answer to the gentle whisper of sugarcanes fields, the place is simply breathtaking. Among two hundred-years-old mango trees, banana trees and anthuriums, you will savor the privilege of this rare and still intact Martinique property, that mixes 19th century Louisiana architecture to the mahogany furniture of plantations from the past.

Luxurious bedrooms with real nineteenth century decoration

You will enjoy a quality of comfort that fits with the majesty of the place : blending their refined facilities with the softness of clothes, the air conditioned bedrooms open on a large terrace surrounding the master mansion.

Purely designed wide bathrooms offer noble materials : mahogany, chrome and glass.

When they come up from the ocean, the trade winds free their scents : it’s time to celebrate gastronomy with our invitation to dine. Our guest get specialy enthusiastic about a Lamb Curry the Madras way and its Christophines gratin, followed by our Chocolate Soufflé with Lime and Old Rhum, the whole being complemented with a fresh Sancerre white wine.

Receptions and entertainments

We open Le Domaine Saint Aubin, partially or totally, for private parties, enterprises lunches or dinners, professional meetings and communication events. Being a musician, Laurent will help you to choose your entertainment.
The acoustical characteristics of our wooden floor and ceilings with beams are exceptional. We give “dinner + concert” evenings with the best carribean jazzmen (musicians from Malavoi, Falfrett, Mahogany) or garden-parties with reknown artists (singer/musicians from Kassav).

A quick and simple access to all sites

Located at Petite Rivière Salée (5mn from the town of Trinité by car) Le Domaine Saint Aubin is 30mn from Fort-de-France / the airport by nationale 1. Nearest beach is 4mn and every place in Martinique can’t be much further than 1 hour driving.

The nearby La Caravelle peninsula and its protected natural area sets the opening to north-atlantic territories, blank from massive tourism : wild beauty of a coast that the ocean beats, tropical forest at the peak of a volcanic hill, dark stone mansion hiding a legendary distillery which still produces its amber colored rhum …

Hidden away in the midst of the idyllic wooded hills of the Perche, between Chartres and Tours, at the entrance to the Loire Valley, Château de la Barre progressively unfolds its history. For centuries, its parkland has protected it from noise and disturbance, and it now emerges as an historical haven, close to the small Loir Valley and the famous Loire Valley Chateaux.

Although having born witness to the Hundred Years War, the Religious Wars, and the vicissitudes of the French Revolution, Chateau de la Barre could tell countless tales, and delights most in joyfully extolling a preserved way of life.

Today, the Count and Countess de Vanssay (she is Anglo-American, he is the twentieth generation at his family chateau), welcome you to their home, where the rooms combine elegance and authenticity with all the important modern comforts. The living rooms, with portraits of various family ancestors, rival in grandeur with the immense dining room, a veritable chef d’oeuvre of the 18th century, complete with its monumental buffet displaying an exquisite collection of china.

Thus, you will be guests in a chateau constantly cared for and loved, where the history of the place and of the family have been intertwined for centuries.

The Salons / Lounges

Rose Salon ;
Luscious fabrics, ancestral portraits, antiques and a tapestry embellish this sixteenth century living room extended onto Chateau de La Barre by the great grand daughter of the builders of Chenonceaux Castle in the Loire Valley. The leather Chesterfield sofa, the Louis XV arm chairs and majestic fireplace render a feeling of utter comfort, luxury, peace and convivialilty to this welcoming room.

Dining Room :
Splendour worthy of the ‘Grand Siècle’ awaits you in the imposingly impressive dining room. The prodigious ‘vaisselier’ is a masterpiece in its own right. Our guests may dine at their choice of several excellent restaurants hidden in the villages of the Perche, Sarthe or Loir valley and are welcome to join us three evenings a week for a festive candlelit dinner with appropriate wines accompanying each course.

Rooms
types of room all decorated in the spirit of the castles.
The Chambre Marin is like a lost paradise of elegance and vastness.
Chambre aux Fleurs : Built during the dark ages of the Hundred Years War which hit Western France heavily, this lovely room is now brightened by stripes and an exquisite floral patterned fabric forming a striking setting for the antique furniture and furnishings

Esprit de Jouy : French craftsmanship for this elegant bedroom with a king size four poster bed. The ‘toile de Jouy’ fabric, created in France during the ‘Siècle des Lumières’, has since become famous throughout the world

n the heart of the Toulouse – Albi – Carcassonne triangle in the south of the Tarn Département, Sorèze lies on one of the last foothills of the Montagne Noire – the Black Mountain – below the fortress of Berniquaut, on one of the major pilgrimage routes to Santiago de Compostella.

In 754, Pépin d’Aquitaine founded an abbey on swampland in Sorèze, at the foot of the northern slope of the mountain.

Over the centuries, the abbey was destroyed and pillaged several times. King Louis XIII gave it to Dom Barthélémy Robin in 1636, and he in turn restored the buildings and made the monastery an affiliate of the congregation of Saint-Maur. The Benedictines opened a school in 1682.
Louis XVI raised it to the rank of Ecole Royale Militaire in 1776 and its teaching drew in boarders from the far-off islands.
In 1854, with the arrival of Father Lacordaire, a Dominican, the school gained a new impetus and its fame spread well beyond the region and the borders of the country.

The rooms :
he Hôtel Abbaye Ecole de Sorèze is located in the south of the Tarn, in the lower foothills of the Montagne Noire, or Black Mountain, and within the boundaries of the Haut Languedoc Nature Park, 5 minutes from Saint-Ferréol Lake and 60 minutes from Toulouse, Albi and Carcassonne.

The complex is made up of 2 hotels:
